Trying to take care of my little piece of the planet

Undo! Undo!

All of us have had moments where we just wanted the opportunity to start over, re-wind the tape, re-word what just came out of our mouths. So the sympathetic part of me feels bad for Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, as she completely mangles her opening statement in last night’s televised debate. But the other part [...]

Fun With Words

Did you know that the words “race car” spelled backwards still spells “race car”?
And that “eat” is the only word that, if you take the first letter and move it to the last, spells its past tense, “ate”?
And that if you rearrange the letters in “Tea Party Republicans” (and add just a few [...]

The Anti-Me

I came across a reference to this conservative website tonight. From the reference, I expected that I wouldn’t find much in common, but I was curious. After a quick look (I warned you that this spring’s posts will be quick) I was stunned to find absolute, unequivocal, 100% discordance! We’re talking polar opposites! Night and [...]

Rube Goldberg

I saw the video below, which started me reminiscing about a symbolic name that’s been part of my vocabulary for as long as I can remember: “Rube Goldberg”. In my rural ‘keep ‘er running’ world, a Rube Goldberg solution involves slapping together a complicated thing made up of available, but improbably connected moving parts that [...]

I Need Some Silver Lining Here…

So, as far as seeing the world as a happy place, it’s been a pretty crappy week all around. Of course, there’s Haiti, where the scope of the need is hard to comprehend. And there was the debacle in Massachusetts, which may well be the shot heard round the world with regard to healthcare reform. [...]

At the Mercy of the IT Guys

It appears that my site is back up; after three days of trying to correct the problem. The error was a ’simple’ one, seemingly caused by an electronic burp while trying to upgrade Wordpress to a more recent version. However, apparently, threatened by my attempt to modernize it, the Wordpress program did what any good [...]

Down for Routine Maintenance

Away from the blogosphere for a few days for all the right reasons.
We’re in beautiful Asheville, NC for a few days, celebrating our thirtieth wedding anniversary.
Hope everyone has a great holiday.
May you have peace, health, love, and enough of whatever to be happy.

Another Rainy Weekend

Mid thirties and raining here. More time to post:

I did merge the two flocks, adding the ten-week old flock (seen here) to the nine others. Loaded the little guys into the big coop after dark, and then let them out together the next morning. As seamless as it gets.

I Got My Country Back!

Nothing says that America’s place in the world has changed since November more than this.

South Carolina: The New…..Mississippi?

All within a couple of months, there’s the Governor of South Carolina flying to Argentina to be with his ’soulmate’. There’s one U.S. Senator promising to make health care reform Obama’s ‘Waterloo’ and a U.S. Representative calling the president a liar on national television during a joint session of Congress. Now this:
GREENVILLE S.C. — A [...]
