Clearly not a textbook effort at poultry management, but we have chicks from both the Jersey Giant hens (black) and the Delawares (white).
And thanks to the efforts of our incubator technician below, we achieved at least a 50% success rate on the first batch. The second should be due in a week…..

Well, maybe not this great…..but we had fun.
We spent Saturday……watching the crowds. Perhaps in this case sharing tips on how to best manage the melting ice cream.

So, this raising chickens from scratch thing is not exactly a well thought out thing. I collected 8-9 eggs that were laid over a 48 hour period and put them in the incubator. Then a week later I added another 8-9 from the following weekend collection. So…..I don’t really expect the chicks to pop out [...]
