I recently posted about my wife racing a sailboat, and used the phrase ‘doing what she most loves in the world’. I misspoke.
Yes, she enjoys racing a sailboat. And to borrow a phrase from one of her competitors, she and her female crew mate are ‘good as hell’. But what she truly loves, is bringing thirty years of experience and training to bear in fixing broken animals. And in training the next generation of veterinarians to pony up.
This picture was from the clinic today, of a dog who ran through the woods, distracted enough to impale himself on a cedar snag, with as much of the wood inside the dog as is seen on the outside. I wouldn’t post such a photo had the dog not weathered the incident and the subsequent surgery.
My point? My wife works even harder than she plays. I pale by comparison.

Ohhh my goodness. I’m so glad the puppy survived this. Give your wife an extra hug for helping him through it!
